How to Use Florifi Basalt
Frequently Asked Questions
Basalt is a slow-release mineral amendment. While some of its soluble silica and trace minerals become available within weeks, the full "weathering" process happens over months and years. However, if you mix it with Bokashi or active compost, the organic acids produced by those microbes help "digest" the rock, unlocking the minerals for your plants much faster.
Basalt is a pH-neutral volcanic rock. It has a very low salt index, meaning it won’t burn delicate roots or salt-sensitive seedlings even if applied liberally. It is a gentle, steady way to build soil fertility without the risk of over-fertilising.
Basalt is often preferred by organic growers because it typically contains a higher concentration of Magnesium, Iron, and Calcium, and is particularly prized for its high Silica content. It also weathers (breaks down) more consistently than harder granites, making its nutritional elements more accessible to your soil biology.
