Horticultural grit is made from angular and smooth crushed quartz stones, adding both aeration and structural stability to potting mixes. Its non-porous nature means it doesn't retain water, making it ideal for plants that are prone to root rot or prefer sharply draining conditions — such as cacti, succulents, alpines, and Mediterranean herbs.
Mixed into compost or coco coir, grit creates small air pockets that allow roots to breathe and excess water to drain freely. It also adds weight to pots, helping to anchor top-heavy plants.
Please Note: For best results rinse before use. Grit may vary in colour.
