How to Use Florifi Seaweed
Ocean-Sourced Vitality: From Seedlings to Harvest
Seaweed Meal is the ultimate "multivitamin" for your garden, harvested from nutrient-dense kelp forests. It’s naturally packed with over 60 trace minerals and growth hormones that act as a biological spark plug for your soil, making it the perfect partner for Alfalfa in any organic system.
Method 1: Top-Dress Application
Best for boosting immunity in established perennials, vegetables, and houseplants.
- Dosage: Apply 1–2 tablespoons per 5 litres of soil volume. For garden beds, scatter lightly around the drip line of your plants.
- Frequency: Reapply every 4–6 weeks. Seaweed is potent and long-lasting; a little goes a long way.
- Activation: Scratch lightly into the top inch of soil and water thoroughly to begin releasing the alginates that improve soil moisture retention.
Method 2: Botanical & Fermented Teas
The gold standard for rapid stress recovery and cellular strength.
- The Mix: Add 1–2 tablespoons per 5 litres of unchlorinated water.
- The Steep: Infuse for 24–48 hours. Unlike Alfalfa, Seaweed breaks down quickly; stirring helps oxygenate the beneficial microbes.
- Application: Use as a root drench or a foliar spray. Foliar feeding is highly effective with Seaweed, as plants absorb the trace minerals directly through their leaves.
- Zero Waste: Toss the spent kelp bits into your compost pile—they are incredible activators for compost decomposition.
Why use Seaweed Teas? Brewing Seaweed unlocks mannitol and organic acids that protect plants from heatwaves and frost. It’s an "insurance policy" against environmental stress that keeps your garden lush when the weather turns harsh.
Method 3: New Soil Mixes & Potting Blends
The secret to vigorous root architecture and transplant success.
When building a new living soil or refreshing old pots, Seaweed Meal provides the "chemical signals" (auxins and cytokinins) that tell roots to grow deep and wide.
- For Potting Mixes: Mix 1 cup/250ml per 50 litres of potting media. It works synergistically with Alfalfa to create a balanced N-K (Nitrogen-Potassium) profile.
- For Outdoor Beds & Borders: Broadcast approx. 0.5kg per 10 square meters. It is particularly effective in sandy soils, as the natural glues in seaweed help bind soil particles together.
- The "Curing" Phase: While Seaweed is gentle, letting your mix sit for 3–5 days allows the minerals to chelate - become mobile, ensuring they are ready for thirsty young roots.
Why it works: Including Seaweed in your base mix ensures your plants have a "mineral bank" to draw from. This results in thicker cell walls, increased resistance to pests, and more intense colors in both foliage and flowers.
