Establish absolute baseline control over your plant nutrition with Tropic Lightmix. This professional-grade, lightly fertilised substrate is crafted from a high-quality organic peat blend, carefully engineered for indoor and outdoor growers who want to dictate their daily feeding schedules without completely resetting their substrate chemistry.
Ready to use straight out of the bag, Tropic Lightmix provides a highly stable, uniform, and low-stress environment. It features just enough baseline nutrition to give seedlings, cuttings, and newly re-potted young plants a gentle, vigorous push during their first few weeks of life—entirely eliminating the risk of accidental nutrient burn or over-fertilisation.
Core Cultivation Advantages:
-
Precision Crop Steering Control: Because it is mixed with a light, non-aggressive nutrient load, Tropic Lightmix acts as a highly responsive canvas. It allows organic and mineral growers to safely introduce specialised liquid feeds, root boosters, and flowering stimulants from day one without creating a high-EC salt buildup in the root zone.
-
Enriched Physical Aeration: Infused with premium 1–6 mm horticultural perlite, the substrate delivers an exceptional air-to-water ratio. The perlite creates countless micro and macro-air corridors throughout the container, preventing compaction, maximising drainage, and supplying vital oxygen directly to expanding root networks.
-
Stable pH & EC Calibration: Pre-buffered with extra fine limestone, the soil holds a highly steady, self-correcting pH value of 5.5 (ranging safely between 5.0–6.0). It arrives with a gentle Electrical Conductivity (EC) level of 0.8 mS/cm, providing the ideal electrical tension for young, sensitive root cells to absorb water and trace elements efficiently.
-
Premium Multi-Peat Composition: Formulated from a custom mix of medium peat moss, clean black peat, and brown peat. This fibrous matrix retains moisture uniformly without waterlogging the upper stem, preventing common nursery issues like dampening-off.
Substrate Composition & Analysis
Every cubic metre ($1\text{ m}^3$) of Tropic Lightmix is blended with strict commercial precision:
| Ingredient / Input | Volumetric Ratio per m3 | Purpose / Function |
| Medium Peat Moss | 0.45 m3 | High-capacity hydration and structural elasticity |
| Brown Peat Mix | 0.25 m3 | Balanced nutrient holding capacity and aeration |
| Black Peat | 0.20 m3 | Dense organic humus layer for root stability |
| Perlite (1–6 mm) | 0.10 m3 | Essential drainage and macro-pore oxygenation |
| Extra Limestone | 4.30 kg/m3 | Long-term pH buffering and natural Calcium input |
| PG-Mix 1 Starter Feed | 1.00 kg/m3 | Initial micro-dose of 14-16-18 NPK + Trace Elements |
Step-by-Step Usage Instructions:
Before filling your pots, empty the Tropic Lightmix into a clean tray or container and gently break up any compacted pieces. Ensure the soil is light, fluffy, and aerated.
Spoon the soil into your pots or fabric containers. Do not press down or pack the medium tightly, as this crushes the perlite air channels and reduces drainage efficiency.
Moisten the substrate lightly with plain, chlorine-free water or a very mild root stimulant solution. Allow the pot to sit until it drains freely from the base.
Because Lightmix is a light-feed medium, begin introducing your target organic or mineral liquid feeding schedules after approximately 1–2 weeks of active plant growth.
